What Makes Your Heart Sing?

Bruce Cryer

Since starting the Sound Brain Fitness Teleseminar Series just over a year ago I’ve been fortunate to have a roster of valued guests on the program discussing sound, music, and the brain. Together, my listeners and I have learned a great deal, but one area we have yet to delve into is the heart.

Some of the earliest recorded civilizations, including the Greeks, speak of the heart as harboring intelligence. Perhaps this is metaphorical by the standards of modern science, but there is a clear pathway of communication between the heart and brain which provides a theoretical foundation for exploration of this thesis.  The people of the HeartMath organizations are champions of the philosophy that the heart, physically and metaphorically, is the key to tapping into an intelligence which can provide us with fulfillment.

This idea has intrigued me since the time a friend introduced me to The HeartMath Solution when it came out nearly 15 years ago.  I have several friends who evangelize the use of HeartMath techniques and devices (see EmWave) for calming and stress regulation. These are highly effective biofeedback methods which integrate beautifully with The Listening Program® music listening therapy protocols. Combined they are a gentle yet powerful channel for transformation.

Next Wednesday, September 4th at 8:00 pm Eastern I’ll be exploring matters of the heart with global thought leader Bruce Cryer of HeartMath HealthCare for a special teleseminar, What Makes Your Heart Sing: Essential Catalyst for an Inspired Life. Register

“What Makes Your Heart Sing” is a question many people around the world are asking themselves to find inspiration, meaning, purpose, and alignment with their soul’s passion for life. Are you doing enough of what inspires you and if not, what is getting in the way?

Hear the uplifting story of how inspirational speaker, Global Director of HeartMath Healthcare, and co-founder of What Makes Your Heart Sing Bruce Cryer’s awakened the power of inspiration in his own life.  Join us for this special episode and learn how to:

  • Identify sources of inspiration that are essential for optimal performance and creativity
  • Develop a deeper sense of presence and kindness for yourself and others
  • Understand and appreciate new reasons for creating balance and passion in your life
  • Develop the skills of personal resilience
  • Be inspired to bring music and the arts into your personal life and your professional environment

When? Wednesday, September 4th, 8:00 pm Eastern. The event is FREE, but space is limited. Register here.

Turn it Down! Talking Noise and Tweens

TURN IT DOWN! Sound familiar? This is a phase nearly every parent of a tween or teen will undoubtedly find themselves shouting over the din of whatever music is blasting out of their kid’s headphones.

As our sons and daughters head back to school its a great time to talk to them about safe listening habits. In Healing at the Speed of Sound® Don Campbell and I write extensively about the dangers of noise exposure, especially for our children, who often spend countless hours listening to music through ear-buds. Take a look at the Noisy Planet website to learn why you need to worry about noise and how to start a conversation about Noise Induced Hearing Loss with your children sooner than later.

From Noisy Planet— We are surrounded by noises, many of which have the potential to cause hearing loss. This also is true of kids, who take part in a variety of activities that put their hearing at risk. Any loss of hearing by children can have lifelong implications for learning, social relationships, and job opportunities.

In response, the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) has launched It’s a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing. The Noisy Planet campaign is NIDCD’s new public education effort aimed at preventing noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) among children ages 8 to 12, or “tweens.” This age range presents a window of opportunity to teach children about the causes and prevention of NIHL while they are developing their own attitudes and habits related to their health, including their hearing health.

Adapted from the It’s a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing campaign (http://www.noisyplanet.nidcd.nih.gov), a program of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), National Institutes of Health.”

7 Week Update

Over the course of the last week the team behind Healing at the Speed of Sound™ has been busy preparing for the book launch on September 29th.

A couple of book trailers are in production. The trailer for the enhanced e-book edition will debut late next week. Filming for that was completed in Colorado yesterday and is now in the hands of our video editor in Los Angeles. This evening I saw the first storyboard for the full book trailer and am thrilled with the direction it is heading.

More news is that our music production team completed Music for Healing at the Speed of Sound™ Volumes 1 and 2.  Masters are complete, packaging designed, and manufacturing starts next week. The official street date for these albums is October 11th. More information on the music coming soon!

My co-author Don Campbell and me are excited to share vital information about the impact of noise on your health, the importance of silence, and how to help you use sound and music to transform your life! More updates coming soon.

Eight Weeks and Counting…

Eight weeks from now will mark the release of my first book Healing at The Speed of Sound  from Penguin Group USA/Hudson Street Press. This is the primary reason for my alarmingly infrequent posts. What posts I have shared are well… about the book…
